Write for the Roses

NEW IN 2012: Write for the Roses will include a quarterly drawing for a partial critique from several of our published (PAN) authors. We also have a drawing coming up for a critique donated by last November's fabulous guest, agent Michelle Grajkowski.

What is Write for the Roses?

Write for the Roses is a year-long effort designed to challenge and encourage members of Saguaro Romance Writers to finish your books and get published. It's called Write for the Roses because every member who sells a book earns a silk rose and kudos at a chapter meeting. This is how the program works:

The Write for the Roses progress chart, on display at every chapter meeting and on our website (see below), lists each member who has committed to finishing at least one book this year. Next to the names, percentage benchmarks mark movement toward completing first drafts and revisions. Each month, participants color in horizontal rows indicating their progress. There are columns, too, to enter dates when your books have been submitted and accepted.

To further the commitment, there's a $20 fee to join Write for the Roses. You have a chance to recoup that expense and more by joining in, because participation makes you eligible for a drawing at the last meeting of the year. The winner will get half of the total collected. The other half benefits the chapter.
